 TurtleSkin SnakeArmor

TurtleSkin SnakeArmor

Lightweight, Flexible Snake Bite Protection
Many clothing items made to prevent snake bites are heavy, stiff, and bulky, but not TurtleSkin SnakeArmor pants, chaps, and reversible gaiters! Using a mere 6 ounce fabric, they are one-third the weight of most other garments on the market, yet will repel the bites of large venomous rattlesnakes, copperheads and cottonmouths. That's a fact because TurtleSkin SnakeArmor has been tested with live rattlesnakes and proven successful at repelling both their strikes and venom. TurtleSkin SnakeArmor's patented weave of high-strength ballistic fibers is waterproof and windproof, too, so you can enjoy the great outdoors in all seasons without worrying about rain, chilling winds, or painful thorns, briars and cactus needles. Gaiters will fold compactly to approx. 8 x 8 x 2 inches for backpacking or to save storage space.

You know this fabric has got to be good because NASA chose a protective Turtle Skin system to prevent punctures to the crash bags for their Mars landings. In fact, TurtleSkin brand is the world’s leader in puncture- and cut-resistant fabrics. TurtleSkin is a registered trademark of Warwick Mills, Inc. and is made in the USA. The manufacturer warranties that all TurtleSkin products (SnakeArmor brand Gaiters and Chaps) will be free from material and workmanship defects for 1 year and the buyer’s remedy is limited to the repair or replacement of nonconforming product (at manufacturer’s discretion). Warranty does not cover excessive wear or damage caused by the user.

Rise in Snakebites

Some parts of the country, especially Texas and California, are seeing an increase in reported snakebites, according to national and state poison control centers. The American Association of Poison Control Centers receives around 2,000 reports of snakebites each year. Some experts believe the rise in more severe cases could be the result of more snakes developing the powerful neurotoxin hellerase in their venom.
